About this Site

This site is a supplement to my Substack posts, which list various overlooked DC government issues. I once brought what I thought was an important issue to the attention of a DC Councilmember known for being open to new ideas. When I finished describing what I considered an unfair situation affecting several people in the DC unemployment system, the member looked at me and said, “Carl, you are the only person who thinks this is an issue.” That was the end of that. The issue’s prominence in the public mind mattered more than its merits.

My posts on Substack have similar issues that have been overlooked, dismissed as technical or without notable champions, but which I think need some attention. That doesn’t mean that something horrible will happen if they are not attended to, but they deserve more than they’ve had.

I chose the ones that I’ll list because they were the easiest to describe as well as deserving attention. They are not alone. In my almost 60 years living in DC including a dozen inside the DC government, I’ve accumulated many others, but they’ll have to wait their turn.

Finally, I take responsibility for the content of this site and my posts. I apologize for any errors. You can find me at carl@boringdcgovstuff.org.
